His journey began in Detroit, working alongside accomplished chefs and restaurateurs, leading him to attain the position of Executive Sous Chef at the age of 21. During this period, Ryan acquired a robust foundation in cost control, P&L management, and quarterly revenue planning, establishing key leadership skills that would shape his future roles.

In Vermont, Ryan furthered his culinary expertise at Hen of the Wood in Waterbury, embracing a farm-to-table approach. His collaborations with local farmers, committed to humane practices, elevated his standards for ingredient quality, a commitment that would characterize his leadership in subsequent roles.

Transitioning to Chicago, Ryan refined his skills at internationally acclaimed establishments such as Alinea and Oriole. Notably, under his leadership at Oriole, the restaurant earned two Michelin stars for its meticulous service and chef Noah Sandoval's American contemporary tasting menus.

Ryan's significant contributions continued at The Blanchard in Chicago, where he garnered accolades for "Best New Restaurant" and secured a three-star review from the Chicago Tribune. His success at The Blanchard also earned national recognition in Food and Wine magazine for its refined French brasserie classics.
