Get to know me better

I am a very happy student of food, history and culture.

My name is Matty Melehes, and I am a Chef. I split my time as a child between the Wyoming Rockies and the sandy beaches of Southern Baja. I started cooking when I was 16, attended culinary school in Vancouver, British Columbia. At 22 I moved back to the United States (Jackson Hole, WY) where I stayed and grew with Fine Dining Restaurant Group for 8 years, leaving as Executive Chef. A good amount of time on Superyachts, then I shifted my full focus on the private chef world, and opened a few restaurants and a beautiful coffee shop in Southern Baja. I am a student of food, I love every region, technique, history and story it comes with, and my cooking reflects that. I particularly enjoy cooking with families, and especially working with kids. My style is light, veggie forward, and whimsical. I love food that makes you relax, smile and giggle. I am now the Executive Chef for Alaska’s Gold Creek Lodge, where I spend my summers working with the best fish in North America.
