Chef Mari Jo Ramie

I am a native of upstate New York and has lived in Charleston for the past eight years. Back home, I completed my associate's in Business and bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. I moved to Charleston to continue my culinary career.

With nineteen years of restaurant experience, I have been a part of seven restaurant openings in Charleston. Most recently, in 2022 I was the head Chef of Gunnarmade Meal Prep. There I learned a whole new skill set on plant-based vegan meals that supported all sorts of dietary restrictions.

I travel all over Charleston (and even out of state!) cooking custom menus for private events. I love that this job allows me to meet many new people and go to many exciting places. But most of all, I love to help the families come together and ensure everyone can enjoy themselves without worrying about what's going on in the kitchen.

I learned to cook at...

Everywhere. When I was young-food network & my family. As an adult- college and a variety of kitchens & styles of cuisines. It's in my bones.

A cooking secret...

staying focused. Being able to pivot and stay open to suggestions. Being a private chef gives me a lot of freedom & the chance to be better every day.
