Chef David Cruz

Starting at age 16, I began working in kitchens, where I found myself interested in almost every aspect. Prep cook, dishwasher, line cook, sous chef, and executive chef are all titles that truly define who I am. At times I found myself doing everything with simple joy. Working at various places in the Hudson Valley while studying at the Culinary Institute of America helped shape the chef I am today. My life in New York and travels to California, Peru, and Florida have flourished my passion for the agricultural aspect of food. After building connections with local farmers I became fond with the concept Farm to Table. Since graduation, I have followed my dream to showcase the true taste of Hudson Valley by involving the local farms that surround my hometown Poughkeepsie, NY. Here is where I started my own food truck concept called Reconnect Foods. I show my creativity and love for not only my own cultures food, Mexican, but my interest in Asian and European techniques and flavors. My goal is to elevate my cooking and educate those who experience my food.
