Chef Elijah Fields

Hi! My name is Chef Blu, and I’m the creator and owner of the House Pepper Culinary Universe. I have been a professional chef for the last 15 years, but I've been cooking my whole life. Growing up in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, I didn’t realize that I lived in a food desert because my mother made every meal with love, creativity, and ingenuity. Her passion inspired me, and I began to cook with her. I then began to study the cooking styles of other people in my family. In my family, folks cook with the intention to make you feel good inside. We never had the money for the high-end ingredients, but what we did with what we had tasted like five-star meals. I learned to love cooking from these women. They showed me that it’s not just the ingredients that are important, but the love and joy you put into the food.

Soon after, I branched out and began making experimental and unique dishes for my family. Food allowed me to express myself in ways I couldn’t before! As someone that has social anxiety and a learning disability, I’m not the best at verbal communication. Through cooking, I have been able to share who I am with the world. The House Pepper Culinary Universe is my most extraordinary self-expression. I have worked in almost every part of a kitchen, from washing dishes to running a 500-person event. I have a vast amount of culinary knowledge and look forward to infusing this into the company.
