BIOGRAPHY

Chef Alexx F. Guevara

Chef Alexx Guevara graduated from the Southern California School of Culinary Arts with a Professional Culinary Arts Diploma and is credentialed in post-secondary education. Chef Alexx, as he is affectionately known to his clients and students, owns and operates Mechanixx of Health - catering to the design and implementation of specific dietary needs and development of educational programs. Working to spread the philosophy of Mechanixx of Health (education – nutrition – fitness), Chef Alexx has also consulted, trained, demonstrated and lectured within the professional culinary industry, the health and fitness community and to his favorite—the general public.

As a professional chef, Alexx has worked for the international Hyatt Hotel system and both the restaurant and catering divisions of the Patina Restaurant Group. While partnered with Primetime Restaurant Group, Chef Alexx consulted on, developed, and trained all back-of-the-house operations and personnel for several restaurant and food service projects throughout the United States. He also directed all special events catering for the Southern California School of Culinary Arts and Kitchen Academy- Hollywood. His private chef and training clientele include celebrities from the entertainment and music industry and professional athletes. Not only are celebrities Alexx’s clients, but they are also his students. He has trained actors and actresses for their roles in films such as: “Woman on Top”, “No Reservations” and “Spider Man 3”.

Alexx is also a sports conditioning and nutrition specialist. He creates individualized nutritional profiles and menus based on clinical tests, predisposition, and personal goals. Chef Alexx has consulted and designed nutrition programs for resort spas, mental health, and substance abuse treatment centers. He has developed and presented workshops and seminars specific to health issues for major hospitals and health clinics, such as UCLA Medical Center, Centinela-Freeman Hospital, HOAG Hospital, Mission Viejo Memorial and HEALTHSOUTH. He has also worked with sports organizations like the Atlanta Reign (Overwatch eSports League), LA Kings, Lakers, Galaxy, and Angels and for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes; the minor-league affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Alexx himself was a semi-professional road cyclist.

Chef Alexx was as the Executive Chef of the world-renowned spa boot camp- The Ranch at Live Oak Malibu where he also contributed to their cookbook. Before that Alexx was the Resident Chef/Culinary Manager for Sur La Table at the Original Farmers Market in Los Angeles. He was the opening Executive Chef and Lead Chef Instructor for Kitchen Academy- Hollywood; sister school of the California School of Culinary Arts- Le Cordon Blue Programs (a division of Career Education Corp.). Chef Alexx was responsible for hiring, training, and developing all chef instructors, curriculum development and everyday operations management. Alexx’s obvious love of education and dynamic teaching style not only made him popular with his students, but also with his fellow teachers and administrators. He played the key roll, working directly with the admissions representatives and faculty, in making Kitchen Academy #1 in enrollments and retention among more than 400 schools in the company. Prior to Kitchen Academy, Chef Alexx was the Director of Consumer Education for the Southern California School of Culinary Arts and in less than 2 years, expanded the program from one class with a dozen participants, to five classes with 24-30 students in each one; a record amount of enrollment.

Alexx has developed and presented cooking and health education programs for cooking schools and colleges, consumer and hospitality trade shows, home and garden show and specialty retailers. He developed English and Spanish programs for The Wellness Community and The Celiac Disease Foundation and was part of the Latino task force outreach program for The American Heart Association. His cooking and nutrition demonstration program for Orange County’s Preventive Healthcare for the Aging agency received an award of excellence and created grant opportunities for the county’s senior centers. Chef Alexx’s sales and marketing savvy helped him re-vamp and headline the “Cooking in the Cellar” demonstration program for Macy’s West Department Stores in California and the Southwest and he was the Western States Representative for Food & Wine Magazine. Alexx has volunteered his time to public and private organizations like Orangewood Children’s Foundation, training “at risk “and foster youth in professional food service and basic life skills; and the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Bethany House, educating women in transition from rehab and domestic abuse.

True to his passion for food and fitness, and even greater passion for sharing his expertise, Chef Alexx has been highly sought after as an “expert contributor” and has had several appearances on national cable and local television; including KCAL Channel 9, KTLA’s Morning Show, The Oxygen Network, Fit TV, The Food Network, The Dr. Phil Show and The Ellen Degeneres Show. He has been featured numerous times in national and regional newspapers and publications such as Robb Report, Travel & Leisure, the LA Times, Orange County Register, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News and USA Today.

Chef Alexx is a Culinary Instructor at Southern Utah University / Southwest Tech and continues to work as a private performance nutrition BioChef. Along with his wife Charlie, their family mission is the ongoing advocacy and education of families and the medical community on the value of holistic methodology and therapeutic nutrition for health and wellbeing.
