I love to cook and cook with love: shopping, preparation, innovation and attention to detail.
The youngest of eight children, I grew up in Tunisia. The scents of cumin, paprika, coriander and turmeric were carried on the Mediterranean breezes that threaded their way through my childhood, and fresh fish and sea-food were always in plentiful supply. Olive and almond groves surrounded my home town, and the peppers grew hot under the North African sun.
I learnt to cook at his mother’s knee. Widowed, when Mourad was very young, Douja needed help to run a home with eight children. From a very early age the family, home-cooking secrets passed to me, and I adapted very quickly to cooking for many!
I settled in the UK in 2000, worked at La Galleria Restaurant in East Grinstead and Consuming Passion Catering of Hove. I have been running my own catering business, Brighton and Hove Catering since 2005.
