It wasn't until I became an adult that I realized how much of an influence food has had on my life, my mood, and my way of receiving love from my grandparents and mother.

Growing up Caribbean, I was in the kitchen at an early age. My weekly routine was watching my grandmother roll and fry dumplin', boil salted cod, and slice over ripe plantain for our Ackee n Saltfish dinner.

As I grew, so did my curiosity and creativity. After many failed experiments I took my mother's advice to enroll in culinary school - my life changed forever. Food has become my first language. Food has become a part of my identity. Becoming a professional chef was definitely written in the stars for me.
